RBC complaints usually start in the mobile app or online banking message centre. Ask for a complaint file number, then keep that thread.
What to ask RBC to do
- Treat the report as a fraud complaint, not only as a general question.
- Tell you the payee name their system showed, if one was shown.
- Say whether any in-app or telephone warning was displayed or read out.
- Send a written final response. If 56 days pass with no resolution, you can take the complaint to the Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments.
What we add
We turn the chat, the receipts, and the warning story into one complaint. If RBC refunds you, our fee is invoiced from that recovery. If they refuse, or the file stalls, the next step is usually OBSI. The route is the same for every bank. The facts are not.

RBC’s first answer was no. The funds were paid back after the written complaint.

I followed their note in the app, then the email. RBC returned the money.
Nothing on this page is a statement about RBC’s current fraud policy. It is the complaint path a customer can use. OBSI is free to use, and you do not need us to go there.
